Women in Aviation International Scholarships for the 2024 year are OPEN! If you need advice on how to write an "Aviation Resume", how to navigate scholarship options and the application process on WAI.org, the Flying Cowgirls gotcha covered.
Reminder! You MUST be a member of WAI (sadly, no, not just being with WAI-OSU) by 1 October, 2023 in order to qualify for the year's scholarships. Application deadline is 12 October, 2023! Good Luck!
What to Expect
Expect essay responses asking along the lines of why you are deserving of the scholarship, how it will specifically help you finance your dream of flight, or why you want to pursue aviation.
Expect to submit 2-3 Letters of Recommendation (LOR). We suggest asking at least 2 weeks in advance, and asking someone who can attest to your passions and character. While family and friends could offer a strong LOR, we also suggest asking professors, flight instructors, or academic advisors.
Be sure to read through the ENTIRE criteria and scholarship requirements. You likely will not qualify for all of them. With this, read through all application requirements too. You could need a scanned copy of your Pilot's License or Logbook.
To make the process easier, WAI has a search feature categorizing specific scholarships (i.e. for PPL, instrument rating, dispatchers, etc.).
While it may seem overwhelming, we all start somewhere. Don't be afraid to apply even if you are brand new to the world of aviation. If you couldn't make it to our in-person annual workshop, take a peak below at our meeting minutes to help you out.
Mags Off,
Flying Cowgirls
