Girls in Aviation Day Dallas 2023

September 23rd marked the launch of the 9th annual Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD). Around the world, local communities and chapters of Women in Aviation International (WAI) worked together to offer an event with varying instructional and educational activities, guest speakers, science experiments, and countless other projects that introduce the world of aviation to girls ages 8-18. WAI aims to serve and inspire the future generations of aviation professionals, and Girls in Aviation Day presents the opportunity for so many to learn, network, have fun, and take the first steps in their aviation journey.
This year, the OSU-WAI Chapter, The Flying Cowgirls, tagged along the North Texas WAI Chapter's annual Girls in Aviation Day to volunteer at the phonetic alphabet, Air Traffic Control, and chapter membership stations. The day was filled with volunteering, connecting with mentors, and learning.

To continue the fun, another GIAD event was held in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. A few the OSU aviation students represented the school and even flew to the event in a Cirrus SR20 from our flight center's fleet! This outreach opportunity allowed for incoming and prospective college students to talk with current OSU aviators.

Y'all Means All
For many, GIAD is the first time girls have the chance to sit in an airplane, look at the controls, and wonder if their dreams can come true. This event is free to attend, and powered by volunteers. We thank the North Texas chapter for hosting, and aim to continue attending this event to pay it forward. Aviation belongs to everyone, and we want to keep the all in y'all.
Mags Off,
Flying Cowgirls
